FOLLOWING THE DISCONNECTION BY THE OWNER, THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE ALLOWED TO PERFORM THEIR PAVEMENT ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING PAVEMENT REMOVAL. THE REMOVED LOOPS AND SENSORS BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE CONTRACTOR. (ADD THE FOLLOWING PORTION FOR PROJECTS THAT ALSO INCLUDE EXCAVATION ACTIVITIES) DURING THE MEETING, THE OWNER/MAINTAINING AGENCY WILL IDENTIFY EQUIPMENT LOCATIONS. DO NOT DISTURB PULL BOXES, CONTROLLERS, CABINETS, POLES OR CONDUITS. ANY DAMAGE WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND REPAIRS MUST BE ACCEPTED BY THE OWNER.~~ Designer Note: For use on resurfacing, minor rehabilitation, and bridge projects within 300 feet of a permanent traffic count station. Projects of special concern – Those that involve concrete median barrier installation - either as part of a widening project that converts an existing grass median to concrete median barrier or a project that replaces the existing barrier. Include details for a median junction box and occasionally conduits to allow the loops and detectors to be reinstalled following the roadway and median work. In general, ODOT Office of Technical Services handles reinstallation of the traffic count equipment via a separate contract with certified material contractors including warranty clauses. The Office of Technical Services may request certain underground work be included with major pavement rehabs and median changes as part of a pavement project. Early project coordination is key – contact Anthony Stevens (614-301-9461, Anthony.Stevens@dot.ohio.gov) for site specific details and needs.~~ 1342-15 MAINTAINING ITS DURING CONSTRUCTION^^ THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN ALL PREEXISTING OR NEWLY INSTALLED PERMANENT ITS/TRAFFIC DEVICES AND INFRASTRUCTURE DURING CONSTRUCTION ACCORDING TO ODOT SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIFICATION 809.~~ Designer Note: This lump sum pay item and note requires the contractor to maintain all permanent devices and communication which are existing or newly installed on the project, as well as setup any temporary communications needed, and perform utility locates for ITS/Traffic devices during construction. The plan note may be used without the pay item if the project involves little to no work for maintaining ITS/Traffic devices or infrastructure. The lump sum pay item may be used when the designer thinks it's needed to compensate the contractor for their efforts, such as when a project has a reasonable amount of ITS/Traffic devices or infrastructure within its project limits which could potentially be impacted, or it's known the contractor will have considerable work or effort in order to maintain ITS/Traffic devices or infrastructure.~~ 1342-16 CCTV CONCRETE POLE, __ FEET TALL^^ THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH AND INSTALL THIS ITEM ACCORDING TO ODOT SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIFICATION 809, AS WELL AS ANY STANDARD CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS NOTED ON THE PLANS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE WHICH TYPE OF POLE TO FURNISH AND INSTALL (CONCRETE OR STEEL) WHEN BIDDING ON THIS ITEM. THE POLE AND FOUNDATION/EMBEDMENT ARE INCIDENTAL TO THIS ITEM REGARDLESS OF MATERIAL TYPE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO PROVIDE AND INSTALL ONE COMPLETE LOWERING UNIT TOOL ASSEMBLY PER CAMERA FOR LOWERING CAMERAS PER SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIFICATION 809 (PAID SEPARATELY). THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH/INSTALL POLES WITH THE CORRECT LENGTH/EMBEDMENT AND ALL COUPLINGS, HANDHOLES, ETC., IN THE APPROPRIATE LOCATION ABOVE GROUND ACCORDING TO SCD ITS-12.10 OR ITS-12.11. FOR THIS SITE, LOCATED AT _________, THE POLE HEIGHT SHALL BE __ FT ABOVE GROUND. THE EMBEDMENT DEPTH FOR A CONCRETE POLE SHALL BE __ FT. A SPECIAL FOUNDATION DESIGN (IS/ IS NOT) REQUIRED FOR A STEEL POLE. (INCLUDE ADDITIONAL SPECIAL FOUNDATION DESIGN AND REQUIREMENTS HERE IF NEEDED.) (FOR PROJECTS WITH MULTIPLE CAMERA POLES, A TABLE OF ALL LOCATIONS AND EMBEDMENT/FOUNDATION REQUIREMENTS CAN BE PROVIDED HERE IN THIS NOTE IN LIEU OF WRITING A PARAGRAPH FOR EACH LOCATION. IF SPECIAL FOUNDATION DESIGNS ARE REQUIRED, THOSE REQUIREMENTS LIKELY NEED A SEPARATE PARAGRAPH FOR EACH LOCATION BELOW THE TABLE.) THE CONTRACTOR MAY FURNISH/INSTALL LONGER OVERALL LENGTH CONCRETE POLES AT A DEEPER EMBEDMENT DEPTH IF IT IS MORE BENEFICIAL FOR MANUFACTURING, SHIPPING, ETC., AS LONG AS ALL ABOVE GROUND COMPONENTS MAINTAIN APPROPRIATE HEIGHT LEVEL. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT ALL POLE MANUFACTURER FABRICATION DRAWING SUBMITTALS, AS WELL AS INSTALLATION PROCEDURES AND BACKFILL MATERIAL, TO THE ENGINEER FOR ACCEPTANCE BEFORE ORDERING. PAYMENT FOR EACH POLE COMPLETE, INSTALLED, AND ACCEPTED SHALL BE MADE AT THE UNIT BID PRICE FOR ITEM 809, CCTV POLE, ____ TALL.~~ Designer Note: A contractor may choose to install either a concrete pole or a steel pole. It is essential to fill in the foundation information for both types of poles for accurate bidding. Concrete poles are typically embedded in a foam foundation. Determine the embedment depth required for a concrete pole using Section 1200 of the ODOT Geotechnical Design Manual. Steel poles use a concrete foundation. Use the standard foundation design provided in ITS-12.11, Note 4 unless the geotechnical exploration shows that the soil properties are not met. In that case, a special foundation design per Section 1200 of the ODOT Geotechnical Design Manual is required. The foundation is included in the item regardless of material type. The designer should provide the design requirements for each type of foundation in the plans. The designer should contact the Office of TSMO - ITS Section and Office of Geotechnical Engineering as soon as possible with exact pole locations, also referencing any available soils data, so the design requirements can be determined and coordinated for each location to include in this plan note. An example table of multiple sites and the fields required is below. | Site # | Sheet # | Location Name | Latitude | Longitude | Expected Soil Conditions Description | Boring ID | Concrete Pole Embedment Depth (Feet) | Steel Pole Special Foundation Required (Y/N) |~~
